So Why Blog?

I've tried blogging before. A lot of people out there have probably tried blogging before. Remember Xanga and LiveJournal? Its strange but I don't remember those coming with the same pressure that blogs seem to bring. Imagine a typical blog

No one really was making any money off of posting in Xanga. No one really became a celebrity because of what they were writing in their LiveJournal. There wasn't a verb for doing those things either. People on those sites were just that, people. Nothing more. I don't even know what you would call someone who posted frequently in either of those. When you start a blog you're automatically assigned a title. Hey, you have a blog? You're a blogger?!?

I suppose those sites were just ways that us kids could put up our thoughts or lyrics or pictures or any ol stuff that we wanted to share with others. "Others" usually meaning our friends, people we see often, or perhaps friends-to-be. Blogs have become something else, almost equivalent to putting out a zine or publishing your own paper. Its supposed to be informative, entertaining, funny, insightful, reflective. There are dozens of other options for your friends if they want to just be updated on your life.

Blah Blah Blog. So why do it?

For me.

I'm at a point in life where things are changing and life decisions are being made.

Its a way to chronicle life and thoughts and observations.

It can be an avenue to help me reflect.

It could just be a self-indulgent way to track the things I think throughout the day.

It could be therapeutic.

Its writing for the sake of writing.

It is certainly nothing close to a semi-professional-revenue-getting website.

It does not have a focused theme or topic.

It is Mine.

I suppose at the very least it can be something to eventually look back on and grin.

It is already kind of making me chuckle. Can you believe the things I have written so far? The word "preposterous" comes to mind in some snooty British accent.

Whatever. This is My Blog.
